Welcome!
My name is Marykate Galluzzo (Gawron) and I am the founder of South Shore Sunfish, an at home private swim and adaptive swim program based out of Braintree, MA. I started this client-centered program using principles from the fields of occupational therapy & psychology. I believe learning to swim is a fundamental part of childhood and should be accessible to all regardless of ability.
I am an outpatient pediatric occupational therapist at Boston Sensory Solutions and a faculty mentor at Tufts University.
I have been a private swim instructor for 15 years. I taught at the SSYMCA Quincy branch for several years and was a part of their adaptive swimming program. Additionally, I have had the pleasure of teaching private in home swimming lessons for several families on the south shore over the past six summers. I received my B.A. from UMass Amherst in 2017 and after I worked at Bierman ABA Autism Center until my enrollment at Tufts. I have experience in early intervention, ABA therapy and adaptive sports. I have worked and volunteered at a variety of places including South Shore Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Charlestown, Adaptive Sports New England, Boston Ability Center, South Shore Therapies, Sydney Children’s Hospital and Braintree Recreation.
I have shifted my focus to providing in person and virtual trainings for aquatic organizations, swim instructors and parents/caregivers through The Sunfish Method.
I am a certified children’s yoga teacher! 🧘🏻♀️
I love scuba diving, exploring the outdoors and spending time with my dog Timmy.
